It’s all been a little quiet on here recently. Quiet blog life = hectic everyday life, new job and impending inspections do not a happy girl make. I won’t bore you with all the details or excuses as to why … Continue reading
Last Thursday evening (April 4th) I stepped out of the cold and into the beautifully refurbished Zen Lifestyle spa at Teviot Place, Edinburgh. I was invited along to their beauty networking event and couldn’t wait to see what the evening … Continue reading
Ok so I have clearly had far too much sugar and I couldn’t resist the cheesy cream egg themed title. When in need of a Hair or Beauty appointment how do you book? In person, text, call, email or online? … Continue reading

Case packed … goodie bags ready… The horn beeps…
It’s time to go! Four excited girls heading for an overnight stay at the renowned Stobo Castle in Peebleshire. The car journey was full of chat including “where’s the nearest pub”, “I’m going for a 6am swim”, “lets dance the dragon”. Might I add dancing the dragon is a fitness class that Stobo offer, it is not me being nasty in regards to the other girls dancing skills. An hour and zero wrong (who says girls can’t navigate… Oh iPhone I love you) turns later we have arrived into the sweeping driveway. I strongly resited the urge to call ‘honey I’m home’ throughout the whole building as I opened the front door. We were welcomed by a lovely lady and given an introduction to the spa. The only comparison I can make is to the scene in Anne when she is welcomed into daddy warbucks house. Fortunately i didn’t burst into song. A choice of three dining rooms, for breakfast and lunch we were welcome to dine in our robes, for dinner we must dress. A reading room full of current newspapers. A delightful covered courtyard area doubled as the spa reception and waiting area. All checked in and ready to go.
Needless to say we were tucked up in bed for 11pm thoroughly relaxed and although someone’s plans of visiting the nearest pub were dashed there was still hope for a 7am (yes i know, previously 6 but the pool opens at 7) swim.
Minus the disturbance of the room radio alarm going off at 1am I had a delightful sleep. So much so that the 7am swim was half an hour later than planned.
After breakfast I enjoyed two treatments, my first ever reflexology session and a half hour back massage. I had a little time on my own in-between treatments and took the opportunity to relax in the reading room. Wrapped in my robe, curled on the sofa in front of the open fire I had the room all to myself.
Gosh I felt like a princess in my very own magical castle. My peace was quickly shattered as two ladies loudly entered my tranquil moment! I could have put on my best posh Edinburgh accent and requested ‘please ladies…hush’ but rather than make a scene I shot them my best not impressed look and headed off to my massage.
Treatments done and all packed ready to go, we settled the bill and headed for lunch. I was slightly disappointed that we needed to be out the rooms and settled the bill by 12noon although we were given a slight extension due to treatment times and lunch was served after bills were settled.
After an amazing three course lunch and failing to convince the staff to let us move in, we even offered to live in the shed! it was time to head home.
3 bottles of bubbly down we headed home feeling relaxed, pampered, talking about the great time we had and wishing we had booked two nights.
I asked the girls to sum up the experience in three words. “Worth every penny” “extra special pampering” “no kids allowed” #peace “amazing. Hilarious. Unforgettable”. My three words are “I’ll be back!”
We booked the 1 night stay at the amazing price of £109pp based on two sharing for dinner, bed, breakfast, lunch and full use of facilities. Treatments were added on top, a full treatment menu is available on the website.
I bought these little Kenneth Cole beauties as extra christmas presents for the family. Half price in the House of Fraser sale for £2.50 a mug. complete Bargain! The full collection hanging on the wall. Fun, bright, and stylish. What … Continue reading
Brrr it’s zero degrees and I have been spending Tuesday and Thursdays out in the cold. Ok well a bit less dramatic, it has only been for 45 mins each night and safe to say I’ve not felt cold for long! In the sobriety in the start of January, I convinced my mum and sister to join me at … Boot camp, yip, I know, Madness. Complete and utter moment of madness. 6 weeks 3 times a week in the dark and cold doing exercise and not just any excercise but high impact circuits and training. The first session was set as a marker to measure our progress against in 6 weeks time. Jogging, sit ups, push ups, planks, sprints, squats, finished off with a mile run. it was tough going but It’s now week 2 and I feel a difference already. As difficult as it is at the time, the buzz after you push yourself harder than you ever have is great. The Boot Camp is led by Kieran (founder of the New Town Fitness Hub). Kieran runs different boot camps across the city and is also available for personal training. His contact details can be found on the website. new town fitness hub
If you need a kick up the backside to get fit and push you to your goals I would recommend a boot camp class. There is no way I would push myself as much without it. Oh and that buzz I mentioned that happens directly after… It vanishes the next day when every muscle in your body hurts. No pain no gain!

Most people love it, some hate it and some have even chosen not to read it. Regardless of opinion Fifty Shades has been a popular talking point over the past months. I read it and this post is only my opinion – thousands possibly millions would disagree.
I got through the first book quickly. Turning page after page, not necessarily gripped by the content, but perhaps hoping the reach the page where the story would finally start. Yes the characters are intriguing and the book is easy to read but to me something was missing. Even although I wasn’t totally gripped I still went on to read the second book. More content and more details of story rather than just sex, i liked this better than the first installment. I downloaded the third book after I had finished. I got the the third chapter then gave up (something i don’t often do). i have no desire to read what predictable dramas or sex positions Anna and Christian go through to reach their happily ever after.
The trilogy is easy to read and has clearly captured peoples imaginations. The hype and flurry has resulted in a large number of ladies all over the world reading, perhaps something they didn’t take the time to do before. Its given us time out, time to escape the world and something a little naughty to talk about. Even although I don’t completely understand the hype i am looking forward to the movie and continue to wonder who will play the elusive Mr Grey.
I’m off to escape in my birthday gift and discover how to make my millions with Mr Duncan Bannatyne.
