Show Three was the one I was most looking forward to. An impressive invitation for a high end department store’s fashion show. Harvey Nichols Edinburgh. Billed as an exclusive fashion show in there underground car park with a sparkling reception, from the moment the invitation arrived i was eager to see what they would pull out the bag. I’ve spent many hours wandering around the store gazing at (sometimes buying) the amazing dresses and gawping at the handbags not to mention the beautifully created designer shoes. The evening of the show came and after a drama with tickets and a customer service assistant that was less than helpful we joined the line. After what seemed like five flights of going down stairs we reached the underground car park. We took our seats and waited for the show to start. The second my bottom touched the crammed in seat’s cushion I realized there was a problem… no way was I going to be able to see the shoes on the models feet. Disappointing but hey the show would go on whether I could see the shoes or not. The music was playing and the clocks were ticking. The models entered the runway one after the other with beautiful clothes and make up. The outfits were stylish, sleek and wearable, the shoes were… well i have no idea what they were. This is my favorite pic of the night.
The venue was crammed and what could have been an edgy, on trend show was for me spoiled by too many people crammed into a small space and seating that meant the only people that could appreciate the full event were those in the front row. Perhaps my expected standards of Harvey Nichols on this occasion were too high. The Clothes were fantastic, the event team were smiley, helpful and at every turn, but the venue let it down a little. Next time I will need to be quick enough to get a seat in the front row.

The end of September included 3 shows in one week. Luckily I had time off from the full time job to recover. First up of the 3 was the StockFest Closing Party Fashion show. Hosted in the impressive Fettes College with a welcoming drinks reception provided courtesy of Waitrose.
The Venue was classic and the welcome was warm. Hosted by JoJo from Lilies and Dreams we seen fashion from stockbridge boutiques: Eden, Lillies & Dreams, Those Were The Days, Chic & Unique and Hibiscus Flower. The models came down the impressive staircase catwalk to a live DJ set from VoxBox Music.
The evening then had live music from Renee Stephanie and a burlesque performance. The complimentary Cava went down extremely well and Apparently I was heard saying i would like to try burlesque dancing so maybe one day I will. We had a fab evening and cracking hangovers to prove it.

September has been a busy month for the fashion Industry and also for me. Edinburgh had a whole host of fashion show events. Ranging from charity events to new innovative ideas. As September appears to be the month of fashion I decided to do what the fashionistas do (excluding the ridiculously high heels) and check out what Edinburgh had to offer on the fashion front.
After meeting a friend at a bar in town and following a super strong cocktail in town, we headed to the final catwalk show for Edinburgh Online Fashion Week (I will post later with more details once it has aired). The show took place at Quarter Mile One on level 3. The venue was new, cutting edge and the atmosphere was exciting. We both sipped champagne, and played a game of spot the designer bag/shoes while eagerly awaiting the catwalk show. Boy were we in for a treat, The ready to wear Autumn winter clothing was matched with amazing hair, amazing make-up and all in all an amazing show. Edinburgh Online fashion Week Airs from the 22nd October.
Show two is coming up in my next post.

September is the month that summer officially ends. A month that sees us stress about the content of our wardrobe “too summery”, “too wintery”, “i need new boots” and “where are those tights” are all common cry’s when deciding what to wear at this time of year. We regretfully pack away the white summer dress that became see through in the rain and take off the amazing sandals we purchased and continued to wear, even although every second step was to dodge a puddle. The sheer determination of British girls to wear summer clothing when our summer days often consist of four seasons in 14 hours is commendable. The world says summer therefore we pack away tights, heavy knitwear and coats until September (my boots made a reappearance in august). Even if the summer was spent freezing in a dress, dreaming of cosy nights in, hot chocolate and fires, we still feel a little sad to pack away summer wardrobes in preparation for winter.
Among the angst that is our seasonal wardrobe changeover, there is … drum roll please… International Fashion Weeks! Deciding what knitwear to buy is quickly redirected to wondering what catwalk looks will determine the fashion of spring/summer 2013. September and February of every year without fail make me wish i was
c) younger and
d) a whole lot more fashionable.
In all honesty while i cuddle up on the sofa with a hot chocolate and watch the coverage of fashion week my main wish for summer 2013 is to have a summer full of sunshine (and maybe a Chanel handbag).
We do have some cracking sunsets during summer. Pictures taken with my Iphone 4s from the radical road at arthurseat , Edinburgh.
